Good-bye beer and hello Mary Jane! The Marijuana Policy Project debuted an ad for weed explaining why it’s better to smoke pot than to drink beer. The 30-second spot claims you can look forward to no calories, no hangovers and that folks under the influence of marijuana aren’t prone to violence or reckless behavior. Sign me up!

Although recreational marijuana is legal in two states and medical marijuana in 19 states, not everyone is feeling the pro-weed commercial, primarily conservative Nascar fans. After the commercial was shown on the jumbotron during the Brickyard 400 races in Indianapolis, it was immediately pulled following a complaint from the Drug Free America Foundation. A statement was released from Grazie Media, the owners of the jumbotron, stating:

“Grazie Media does not, in any way, shape or form, support the use of marijuana nor the promotion of illegal drugs at a family event,” Vanessa Wojtala, CEO and director of programming at Grazie Media, said in a statement.

Maybe advertising such a liberal idea — such as legalizing marijuana — to a conservative crowd isn’t the smartest thing to do, but you’ve got to admit the advertisement does make some valid points. I mean, hello, no calories?! Who can say no to that? Check out the ad below.
