The NFL Pro Bowl gets some much needed changes
The annual snooze-fest that is known as the NFL Pro Bowl has just made some good, some bad, and some indifferent changes. Of the good changes is the elimination of the AFC-NFC format that the Pro Bowl previously had. The new format will take after the NBA’s Rising Stars game which is fantasy format.
Under the new fantasy format the two players with the most votes will be captains for their respective teams. In addition the captains will be consulting with either Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice plus two NFL.com fantasy football winners.
Unfortunately for fans one of the bad rules will be the elimination of kickoffs. This decision was made in order to protect the player’s safety so I guess we can’t be too mad at that rule.
The NFL Pro Bowl Draft will take place on January 22nd with the game being played on January 26th.
Check the remaining rule changes to the Pro Bowl down below;
-Two minute warnings have been added to 1st and 3rd quarters.
-Possession will change at the end of each quarter.
-During the two-minute warning the clock will stop if the offense doesn’t gain at least 1-yard. This is aimed to encourage offenses to gain yards at the end of a quarter.
-After the referee’s signal the clock will start after an incomplete pass except during the two minute warning and final five-minutes of the game.
-35 second/25 second play clocks will now be used opposed to the regulation 40 second/25 second.
-Game clock will not stop on sacks of the QB unless it is the final two minutes of the game.
Well hopefully these rules make the Pro Bowl a little more exciting, but let us know if you like the new rules and formant in the comment section.
